Up-and-Coming Games in 2024

When you’re talking trends, the first thing to watch out for is any games that’ll shake up the industry. A good game can leave people talking about it for months, and getting ahead of the curve will help your channel grow – riding the hype wave and bringing in new and engaging viewers.

With that said, here are some of the top dogs to watch for 2024 and beyond!

Monster Hunter Wilds

Releasing sometime next year, Monster Hunter Wilds is a continuation of the major franchise. The previous entry, Monster Hunter World, has 2 million followers on Twitch, but fresh blood in the form of a new title could inject even further interest. While not for everyone, this is still a cult classic and beloved by many – definitely something to consider making content for if you like fighting prehistoric monsters with enormous swords.

GTA VI

Expected in Autumn 2025, GTA VI is sure to be a fan favourite. Many still play and watch content for the previous game, clocking in at around 100-300k players at any given time on Steam alone. GTA V was originally released in 2013, so holding interest for this long is certainly an impressive achievement. Maybe it’s the user-generated content – something we will be getting into a little later on – or maybe it’s the explosive, non-stop action, but whatever it is, GTA VI is sure to hold more of the same.

Light No Fire

From the makers of No Man’s Sky comes another 3-word title, Light No Fire. A crafting co-operative survival adventure, this game promises a world the size of our own to explore and interact with alongside friends. Not only could this make for engaging content, but discovering everything this game has to offer will also be a great personal experience.

While No Man’s Sky didn’t quite have a smooth launch, the team behind it have been hard at work over the years, and it has turned into something surpassing the game originally promised. With dedication to their craft and years of lessons learned, their next venture in Light No Fire is sure to be interesting to say the least.

The Elder Scrolls 6

Would you believe it’s been over a decade since the last instalment in the main Elder Scrolls franchise? Skyrim has really pulled its weight with the modding community effectively remaking the game many times over, and the Elder Scrolls Online has given people a fix – but the true single-player experience that people crave has been just out of reach.

It’s been 6 years since the next title was first announced, and people have yet to quell their curiosity about what a new game could be like. Starfield didn’t really live up to peoples’ expectations, with many turning instead to Fallout 4 due to the popularity of the TV show.

How good the Elder Scrolls 6 will be remains to be seen, but it has the potential to really make a change in the dynamic of gaming content creation.

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

Relighting a fire in the hearts of many Final Fantasy fans is the continuation of the remake of the popular classic from 1997. Rumoured to be set in an alternate timeline, Rebirth brings fans a new collection of “what ifs” and ways to engage with their favourite fictional universe.

If Final Fantasy has always been a passion of yours – with the MMO receiving a powerful 9/10 on Steam, you wouldn’t be alone – then getting on board with the new release is a must. If not, this could be your opportunity to get involved and see what all the hype is about!

Trending Techniques to Boost Your Gaming Content

As well as the games you play, there are other things you can do to improve the effectiveness of your content. Trends exist in this area too, as what people want to see is always changing. Old content and techniques get tired fast, so staying on top keeps you fresh for your audience.

Brand Collaborations and UGC

User-generated content (UGC) is incredibly popular at the moment, creating lucrative opportunities for brands and creators. Brands want popular gaming content creators to make videos and materials that will add a personal touch to their messaging, while the creator gets a nice bit of publicity alongside a generous pay package.

UGC is also making a comeback in areas other than brand collabs. Games like GTA, Minecraft, or even ROBLOX – now a hub for up-and-coming indie games – all offer unique ways to interact with the games and show both your personality and some amazing creations to your audience.

Authenticity

Being authentic is more attractive than ever, as it’s easy to get tired of videos and reactions you can tell are fake. It’s also a more sustainable way to run your channel, giving you a break from keeping up a façade.

Vlogging can be a good way to show your authenticity, giving viewers a controlled, personal insight into certain parts of your life while providing a much-needed channel of release for anything you have on your mind.

Social Media

Utilising social media has always been the backbone of any gaming content creator’s strategy, and now it is no different. In fact, social media is only becoming more impactful as short-form media like TikTok, Threads, and Reels continue to dominate user behaviour. Social media also presents several other opportunities, such as letting you engage with your community or drawing in new viewers.

Other Areas of Gaming Content Creation to Watch

V Tubers

V Tubers have always been a very popular niche in content creation, from games to talking streams and more. As one of the easiest ways to create an interesting character with customised visuals, V Tubing offers a unique experience for audiences and creators alike. It’s not for everyone, however, but it should still be a field you watch out for – you never know, you might just find inspiration for your own content!

Esports

Esports are still incredibly popular, with games like League of Legends, Counter Strike 2, and Valorant reach upwards of 50-150k viewers at any given moment on Twitch. It’s easy enough to just say “get good”, but the time and commitment pro-gamers put in isn’t to be underestimated.

If you’re not already in the upper echelons of your game of choice, then consider making other content around it like game analysis, strategy breakdowns, or commentary on esports matches.

Difficult Games

Surprisingly, difficult games have actually made a comeback. Truly the “dark souls” of game categories, difficult games like Elden Ring’s latest Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, survival games like Enshrouded, or horror games like the new atmospheric Still Wakes the Deep all add extra intrigue and value to your content – showing your skills and pushing challenges people might otherwise shy away from.

VR

Virtual reality or VR games have always been a fun viewing experience. With so many creative ways to engage with games, you’ll be able to create truly unique content. Recent technologies like full-body tracking or games with advanced features like the acclaimed Blade & Sorcery finally reaching their full release mean this area of the industry is abuzz with excitement.

Fitness Gaming

Keeping fit can be hard, especially when your job revolves around sitting in front of a screen and making content for hours on end. Fitness gaming changes the scene, actively encouraging and requiring both you and users to engage in fitness. Although this isn’t for everyone, it’s still a great way to interact with your audience and work on yourself at the same time. Healthy in body and healthy in mind both mean you’ll be able to enjoy making your content, and reap the rewards that follow.

Cross-Platform Gaming

Accessibility is all the rage in gaming. No one likes the feeling of finally getting to play that new game with your friends, only to remember they have an Xbox, not a PC. Well, with cross-platform gaming, you can engage with players even on different systems! For some games this technology has been around for a while, but with cloud computing taking to even greater heights due to advancements like AI, you’ll start to find cross-platform gaming in more areas than ever.
